Worked on a feature in Kississime for the day.  Cool crew and cast including Willem Dafoe who I worked with years ago on Speed 2.

The best and worst part was I got to use a film camera again.  Every time I think I'll never see one again, I get a feature or a commercial that shoots 35.  It was a Panavision Millennium 2 with E series anamorphic lenses.  It was a pig which was compounded by the sweltering heat and the many takes running backwards down many, many flights of stairs.

Great shot though, looking forward to going back again.

Just messin around...

A actually have a lot of fun doing Steadicam on music videos, especially if I like the song.  But I rarely like a remake of a song, especially if I really liked the original.   This one happens to be an exception to that rule.

I actually think (no offense to reo speed wagon) that pit and Enrique did this one better.  I still can't get the track out of my head and we shot it weeks ago.

I also love working with director David Rousseau and DP Cesar Chacon and my home boy Enrique who aside from being cool as hell is, let's face it, the best looking man on the planet.

I also got some amusing photos, not sure why everybody was taking pictures of me...

Oh Canada!

Had a great time shooting the pilot for 'Taken' in and around Toronto.  Fantastic crew and one of the best directors I've ever worked with (Alex Graves).

It was cold as hell however.  A hard night in freezing rain will remind you that Florida summers working on the beach are not that bad.

Guess where I am???

If that doesn't give it away, try this...
Still no???
My second home, Jamaica man!

Got to shoot mr Usain Bolt and so some swimming.   If I had to live anywhere but the USA, it would probably be Jamaica.

Got to work with Ryan McGinley and Darren Lew on this Calvin Klein spot a few months ago in Puerto Rico.  Was a total blast and it looks amazing!

Where The Fast Lane Ends

Just finished principal photography on my third movie with Tom Webber and Mark and Frank Miller.

Where The Fast Lane Ends was my second full length feature film as DP (on the back of one feature length doc, one 55min kids movie, two shorts, 7 seasons of network television second units and a whole bunch of commercials and music videos).

Each time it gets more fun and I'm pretty sure I'm improving too.  I know this will be the best looking project I've ever worked on.

Aside from the amazing directing and producing team, I could not have done it without the amazing crew.  Greg, Josh, Jared, Bret, Jeff, Salim, Joel and Dino all came up from Florida and we got the rest of the crew from Tennessee.

Really a great experience and a great bunch of people to work with.  Already looking forward to the next one.

I'll finish up the year with two week long Sandals jobs with my Phoenix Films family.  Life is good.

Looking forward to getting home and spending some quality time with my amazing wife and kids!

Serious DP Mike
Lighting or giving a Karate chop (not sure)
Totally amazing locations
Goofy me
Greg and I figuring out the next shot
And what movie would be complete without a bull.

American Horror Story season 5

Another busy year.  I was in LA a few weeks ago for Disney and now I'm back again.  This time for American Horror Story season 5.   I'm shooting promos with the same group I shot promos with last season in New Orleans.

The added bonus of this season is I get to spend some time with my west coast family, including my brother Grady (who works at Paramount where we are shooting) and I get to meet my niece (Finley Rose Gamble).

I also get to fly a new Alexa Mini (I'll have my own in a few days) on my Steadicam.  So far the camera is awesome and is even lighter, smaller and more well balanced than I had hoped.
